
OUR STORY
It all started back in ’63 when Kennedy lost his head. The Beatles saw you standing there, and the Profumo scandal rocked the nation.
When local businessman Arthur ‘Enoch’ Hughes had a great idea. Open a swanky Fish & Chip restaurant in a small village on the North Wales coast. A stone’s throw from the medieval walled town of Conwy and the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, many happy fish and chip memories were made.

After a long time served, Arthur hung up his apron and handed the reigns to another local family. The Carmichael’s. Clive and Diana kept the name, Enochs. With the help of their family, spent many years keeping traditions alive.
It wasn’t until a tunnel was sunk under the Conwy River that Clive and Diana decided it was time to jump ship. This opened up an opportunity for the Norcliffe family. Seasoned Fish & Chip folk from Manchester. They began a new chapter in the history of this long-established landmark.
Not long after taking over, the family was rocked by illness. During this turbulent time, two of the brothers took turns taking the helm.
It wasn’t until 2006 that Danny and Donna would shape the local institution into an ethical champion. In an industry that hadn’t changed for years, they stuck to their values. Understanding the importance of tradition and embracing a fresh approach. They became the first certified sustainable fish and chip store in Wales. Gaining a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) accreditation. Also, they were the first to introduce ‘Heart Healthy’ cooking oil. Looking after our community with great-tasting healthier fish and chips.
After many calls for another store in Anglesey, they opened Enochs in Valley in 2015. A small community store. On the far side of the Island, near the amazing beaches of Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr.




They have won many accolades over the years. Most recently, The Guardian’s best 20 seaside fish & chip shops. Also, National Geographic’s nine of the best UK fish & chip shops.
However, as Investors in People, they appreciate that the honours go to the amazing crew. With their hard work and dedication have been a pleasure to work with over the years.
It’s a legacy they have been very proud to be a part of, and they hope to see it flourish long into the future.
